Early Years Foundation Stage
Acorn Class love to play outside in our garden. We have created a great bug hotel, and we like to use magnifying glasses to go on bug hunts and see what we can find in the garden. We have exciting Forest School sessions with a Forest School Leader on Tuesdays. We enjoy climbing trees and using our tyre swing. We are brilliant at turn-taking with our friends. In our garden, we have a mud kitchen, where we make magic potions and mud soup! We love to ride our bikes and scooters and have a huge beach sandpit, where we are good at making cement and building castles. One of our favourite things to do is to make an obstacle course with our wooden blocks, crates and planks. We also grow lots of things in our garden. We dig the soil and water the plants and vegetables – it is lots of fun!
We are also amazing Mathematicians, and we learn a little bit more every day. We love practising our subitising, which is the ability to see and count numbers instantly without needing to count one by one.
We really enjoy Fred Time, which is the term used in our Read, Write, Inc Phonics Programme, where we learn new sounds and words and quickly become good readers. We always talk about what we can see and what we notice because it’s always interesting to find out more about what we all know and think. One of our favourite days of the week is when we make a stage for telling our Helicopter stories. We take turns to create a story, act it out and celebrate being great storytellers and actors.
We are happy, kind children who look after each other and follow our school values of patience, wisdom, integrity, compassion and joy.
Perhaps you would like to come and see us? We’re always at school so please drop by and see all of the wonderful things we get up to – it’s great fun!
